EDUCATIÓN EMPODERADORA PARA LOS JÓVENES

I offer academic tutoring, college counseling, and holistic mentorship to middle school, high school, and college students, as well as recent post-graduates. I tailor my guidance approach to each individual student’s needs. I care deeply for and attend to the diverse challenges students may encounter involving accessibility, cultural responsiveness, and socioeconomic status.

Ofrezco tutoría académica y orientación profesional a estudiantes de secundaria, bachillerato y universidad, así como a recién graduados. Adapto mi enfoque de orientación a las necesidades específicas de cada estudiante. Me preocupo profundamente por los diversos desafíos que pueden enfrentar los alumnos —en aspectos como la accesibilidad, la sensibilidad cultural y el nivel socioeconómico— y les brindo la atención necesaria para abordarlos.

HOLISTIC MENTORSHIP

I empower students to take risks, have confidence, work hard, and realize their full potential. “Holistic Mentorship” offers students the opportunity to work with me to develop critical socioemotional skills such as effective communication, resilience, and resource navigation in big colleges + universities (and even high school). This is not therapy but rather me sharing the lessons I’ve learned operating within education as a multi-marginalized person.

The students who might most benefit from my mentorship include students who identify as the following:

  • Neurodivergent (ADHD, Autism, other learning or mental health-related differences)

  • First-generation college-going (neither parent graduated from a four-year college in the U.S.)

  • LGBTQ+, Gender Non-Conforming

  • Spanish-speaking familial background

  • Immigrant familial background

Ayudo a los estudiantes a asumir riesgos, ganar confianza, esforzarse y alcanzar su máximo potencial. La «mentoría integral» les brinda la oportunidad de trabajar conmigo para desarrollar habilidades socioemocionales clave, como la comunicación efectiva, la resiliencia y la capacidad de desenvolverse en grandes universidades (e incluso en la escuela secundaria). No se trata de terapia, sino de compartir las lecciones que he aprendido al desenvolverme en el ámbito educativo como una persona que enfrenta múltiples formas de marginación.

I help students in grades 10-college navigate the terrain of college admissions. With over six years of experience working in college access, I possess expert knowledge and can give very good advice on college admissions strategies. This includes:

  • College Application Essay Feedback for both Common App, UC PIQs, college-specific supplemental essays, and scholarship essay prompts

  • Transferring from a community college to a 4-year-university

  • Individual guidance on how to become a competitive applicant to top colleges

  • FAFSA/CSS Profile Application support and decoding Financial Aid Letters

Ayudo a estudiantes —desde el décimo grado hasta la universidad— a desenvolverse en el proceso de admisión universitaria. Cuento con más de seis años de experiencia en el ámbito del acceso a la educación superior, lo que me permite ofrecer asesoramiento experto y estrategias muy efectivas para la admisión universitaria.

ACADEMIC TUTORING

I offer tutoring for grades 6-college in many subjects including Reading, Writing, History, Social Studies, Ethnic Studies, Gender Studies, AP courses in the humanities, and basic study strategies.
